Application Components
The research proposal (up to 5 pages) detailing the work to be undertaken during your sabbatical is the central element of your application. The research must be clearly related to the NASA Astrobiology Roadmap. You are asked to highlight your qualification to conduct this research, obtain sustainable funding/support afterwards, and your interest in the field of astrobiology. The proposal should describe the benefits of the NAI-MIRS program to you, your career, your institution, your research mentor, NAI, and the field of astrobiology. The letters of support should also describe how the proposed work is relevant to the NASA Astrobiology Roadmap. The NAI Annual Report(s) is/are also an excellent source of information.
You are strongly advised to speak with the potential host investigator. This effort will contribute to your successful application, and to the most productive matching of interests, capabilities and timeframe of the sabbatical.
